Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc!!!!

Post hoc, ergo propter hoc!!!!

It’s an old adage that success breeds success and Navan RFC certainly seem to be proving that point this season. The current Mens’ Senior Team owes a huge amount to the All Ireland Winning u20 squad from 2017. Navan Seniors have not dropped out of the top 3 at any stage this year in AIL Division 2A and chalked up impressive wins against legendary Clubs including Blackrock College and Galwegians along the way. Having been promoted in each of the last two seasons it is all the more impressive that Navan RFC are proving so successful at the higher level. The younger players in the squad have had a winning habit through their Mini and Youth careers with Navan and are simply continuing this in the  Senior ranks. We are also blessed with experience in the squad that has produced such a potent group. Navan has beaten every team in AIL 2A during the course of the year and if we reach the playoffs, they will fear no one. Meantime, the conveyor belt of talent continues and St.Patrick’s Day saw the u18s defeat the impressive Gorey to become Leinster  Premier League Champions. This is a huge win, not just for the squad, but for the entire Club. The game took place in Mullingar and Navan played into a very strong wind in the first half and trailed 14-0 at the break. However, the resilience of the entire squad came to the fore and they overcame the deficit to run out winners 21-19. As Leinster Champions, they now face Belfast Methody this weekend with a place in the All Ireland u18 Final the prize on offer. Hopefully, we will have further success with the u18s before the season is over!!

Our ambition is for these underage players to represent Navan on the national stage at the very highest level of Senior rugby in the future and thankfully the investment in our Mini and Youth structures is paying dividends based on the season so far!!
